As Wilco's devoted fans know, the beloved band's Solid Sound festival is one of the most unique and eclectic music events out there, bringing together folk, rock, jazz and country-inspired acts together for an unforgettable experience.
Now the lineup for the 2026 Solid Sound festival has been officially announced...and it's one of the best ever.
An Instagram post shared by Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy this week revealed the full list of headliners for the three-day festival, which will take place on the grounds of MassMOCA in North Adams, Massachusetts from June 26-28.
View this post on InstagramAccording to the post, Wilco will be joined by The Breeders, Gang of Four, Billy Bragg and S.G. Goodman, in addition to supporting acts L'Rain, Ryan Davis & The Roadhouse Band, Sharp Pins, the Messthetics and James Brandon Lewis, and Hannah Cohen.
The opening night will be particularly special, as Tweedy and Bragg will be performing songs from their beloved Mermaid Avenue collaboration (including lost lyrics from Bob Dylan's icon, Woody Guthrie). This will be the first time Tweedy and Bragg have ever played a full live concert together, according to Rolling Stone, so anybody who snags tickets will have serious bragging rights.
Attendees can look forward to more than just music, too: The festival will also provide laughs courtesy of John Hodgman's Comedy Cabaret, a screening of a new film about Bob James from Mikael Jorgensen, poster silk screening demos with Ghost-Town, and nature-centered activities.
Jeff Tweedy says Solid Sound reflects Wilco's taste in music
Ahead of the 2024 edition of Solid Sound, Tweedy told Stereogum that Wilco is "pretty hands-on about the booking" of the festival.
"Everybody in the band submits a wish list, and we go at it," he explained. "There's a lot of competition for a festival date compared to when we started this festival, so we have to have a pretty massive list of things that we'd love to see, to get enough people that are available. When somebody's available, we don't generally have a tough time getting them on board."
"It's really fun," Tweedy continued. "We have a good time coming up with the lineup, and I think that at the end of the day all of the Solid Sound lineups look like something very curated. The goal is to make it really reflective of the band's interests, and affinities for different musicians."
One thing's for sure: Fans won't be disappointed with Wilco's picks this year.
