A high-speed police chase that started on Chicago’s West Side continued for several minutes, traveling to the South Side as an erratic vehicle went the wrong way down some of the city’s most-trafficked roads, leading to a crash and sparking a massive search for suspects.
The chase lasted nearly an hour before the vehicle plowed through gates and entered an industrial area near Pulaski, where three people exited and fled on foot, sparking a manhunt for suspects near 69th and Kedvale.
NBC Chicago’s Sky 5 helicopter followed the chase as the vehicle exceeded 100 mph at points, traveling on the Dan Ryan and Lake Shore Drive, at times going the wrong direction as a police helicopter also followed it.
The chase sparked a crash before continuing on, driving on the sidewalk to evade police, side-swiping vehicles and nearly causing numerous crashes along the way.
It was not immediately clear why police were chasing the vehicle, but footage appeared to show at least one person being taken into custody.
