D’Marco Jackson Named NFC Defensive Player of the Week
Jackson logged seven tackles, two passes defended, a sack, and an interception in Chicago’s Week 15 victory over the Cleveland Browns. Jackson’s interception was as timely a play as there was for the Bears on Sunday, giving the Bears the jolt they needed to get on track in the second half.
Matt Marton-Imagn ImagesThis is the first POTW honor for Jackson, who becomes the fourth Chicago Bears player to win the honor, joining Caleb Williams (Week 3), Josh Blackwell (Week 4), and Colston Loveland (Week 9). Jackson is the first Chicago linebacker since Danny Trevathan (Week 2, 2018) to win the award.
Jackson’s big week against the Browns was his latest in an impressive string of games since stepping into the starting lineup due to injuries to Tremaine Edmunds and T.J. Edwards.
Jackson also has a 15-tackle performance to his credit this season in Chicago’s Week 12 victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers. On the season, Jackson has 41 tackles, a sack, and an interception for Dennis Allen’s unit, which has navigated a slew of injuries to starters.
As Luis wrote earlier this week, Jackson was the Bears’ highest-graded player over at PFF with a 93.1 grade.
