Chicago Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson has his offense humming entering the team’s Week 16 showdown against the Green Bay Packers.
And let the record show that the lede sentence in this post isn’t solely a reflection of recency bias with the Bears offense putting up 31 points against Myles Garrett and the Cleveland Browns defense. The offensive side of the ball in Chicago has been playing well for a while now. And nothing captures that fact like this nugget shared by teammate Patrick Flowers:

— Patrick K. Flowers (@PatrickKFlowers) December 16, 2025Ben Johnson’s Bears have the NFL’s most productive offense since Week 5
The folks at Next Gen Stats have the Bears with the league’s top total offense since Week 5. That number lines up with their bye week. In other words, Chicago’s offense — which has been averaging 388.2 yards per game since the bye — has done its best work since going back into the lab during the bye week.

There were plenty of conflicting opinions about whether the early-season bye was a good or bad thing. My feeling always was that an early bye with a first-year head coach allowed for the team to be aggressive and progressive when it came to making necessary changes based on early trends. Considering how things have gone since the bye, I feel as if my opinion has been vindicated. But more important than that, Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson is in his bag. And with the biggest games of the year staring this team in the face, I’m glad the arrow is pointing in the right direction.
As for where the Bears offense ranks in terms of season-long stats, here you go:
Points scored: 365 (9th) Yards: 5,167 (5th) Passing yards: 3,041 (17th) Passing touchdowns: 22 (14th) Net yards gained per pass attempt: 6.2 (14th) Rushing yards: 2,126 (2nd) Rushing scores: 17 (6th) Yards per carry: 4.8 (5th) Third-down conversion percentage: 44.0 percent (5th) Red zone scoring percentage: 59.2% (15th) Percentage of offensive drives ending with a score: 43.3 percent (12th) Average points per drive: 2.29 (11th) Touchdowns per game: 2.9 (9th) Time of possession: 4th Ben Johnson before the Week 1 game vs. the Vikings. Yes, the passing game could stand to be more consistent. If quarterback Caleb Williams can connect on some of his easier throws at a higher rate, then that would help in that aspect of the game. But even with WIlliams’ completion percentage lagging when compared to the lofty expectations Ben Johnson set on his second-year signal-caller, the Bears offense continues to be productive.
THE BEST OF CALEB WILLIAMS FROM WEEK 15’S WIN VS. BROWNS
I look forward to seeing what Ben and the gang have lined up for upcoming games against the Green Bay Packers, San Francisco 49ers, and Detroit Lions. Two of those three games will be played at Soldier Field, where Williams has posted a 99.2 passer rating, averaged 7.4 yards per paassing, and put up an 11-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio in six games. Chicago’s football team is 5-1 in those home games and has averaged 27.8 points per game in those contests. Now that you’ve seen those numbers, I bet you’re looking forward to this stretch run, too.
