Drum roll, please... it's the micro French manicure.According to Yankee, the micro French "keeps the structure of the classic French but with an ultra-thin, 'micro' tip." So instead of a chunky white stripe at the end of your nails, there's a barely-there strip of white paint (or any other color you want.)"This style pairs great with any of your favorite French manicure combinations but I like it best with a sheer natural base color and crisp white for the tip," Yankee says.Related: The One Thing You Should Never Do to Your Nails, According to a Celebrity Manicurist

Pham, who calls this her "ultimate favorite French look," says the style is "flattering for all types of hands and all ages."Yankee adds that the style "complements every nail length, shape and skin tone" by enhancing the nail rather than "overpowering it." "For younger women, it reads clean and chic," she continues. "For the more seasoned women, the thin tip helps brighten the nail edge, giving a youthful look without the heavy contrast of a thicker French tip."Bottom line? The micro French is for anyone and everyone.Related: The 7 Best Nail Colors for Women Over 50, According to a Celebrity Manicurist

How To Ask for This Style at the Salon

To get the look, Pham says to ask your nail tech "for a straight thin line" if you have square nails and a "curved thin line" if you have oval or almond-shaped nails.

Want to achieve the look at home, instead? No problem. Yankee calls the micro French "surprisingly DIY-friendly." She recommends starting with a base coat of her "Can't Break Me" nail strengthener ($11), then one to two coats of a sheer base like "Bare-ly There" ($11). Use a nail art brush to paint the thin white line with "On Cloud 9" ($11). "Use light pressure and start at each corner and meet in the middle to make it more manageable to paint," Yankee says. Then, seal with a clear top coat ($11).

If that still sounds difficult, Pham says you can try the Color Street French manicure nail strips ($20). They're made with real polish and are designed to stick easily to your nails for up to 10 days of wear with no drying time required.

Pham says the micro French manicure "works for any nail length and goes with any base color." She calls this square-shaped example her "ultimate favorite look" due to its "simply delicate and classy" style.

    2. Almond Nails

"Another favorite is a micro French with an almond shaped nail," Pham says of this Jennifer Lopez red carpet look. "The micro French ... [makes] them look longer. A perfect illusion."

    3. Short Nails

Yankee says the micro French mani is "elegant" on many nail shapes, especially shorter nails because it "elongates the fingers, and looks modern without losing its timeless appeal."And don't be afraid to mix the classic French style with some fun nail art, like Yankee did with this floral accent.Related: The French-Inspired Eye Makeup Trend That’s Flattering at Any Age

Yankee loves how versatile micro French manicures can be, saying, "They can be done in any combination of base and tip colors." Here, she chose a pop of purple for the tip.

    5. V-shape

Seen on Zazie Beetz, Pham loves this v-shaped interpretation of the micro French mani—where the color comes to a point in the middle. "It's edgy while still being minimalistic," Pham says.

    6. Glitter Tips

Yankee says you shouldn't be afraid to stray away from "using traditional polish colors," to achieve a micro French. She also recommends "cat-eye shades, chromes, metallics" and more as fun options. These glitter tips were someone's wedding nails.

With so much variety to choose from, it's no wonder Pham says the micro French "goes well with any aesthetic" and Yankee calls it "the perfect nail design choice to fit any occasion."
