Rachel Zegler Performs 70s Holiday Classic at Star-Studded Concert

Rachel Zegler stole the show at Jack Antonoff's talent show with a beautiful take on a holiday favorite.

Antonoff hosted the 11th Annual Ally Coalition Talent Show at the NYU Skirball Center on Monday night. All proceeds from ticket sales go to the Ally Coalition, an organization that is dedicated to bettering the lives of LGBTQ youth and raises awareness about the systemic inequalities facing the LGBTQ population.

Every year, the singer and producer brings out a surprise line-up of musicians, comedians and friends. Previous years' lineups have included Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers, MUNA, St. Vincent, Jason Isbell, Lucy Dacus, Carly Rae Jepsen, Lana Del Rey, Hasan Minhaj and more.

On Monday evening's show, he brought out Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine, Hayley Williams of Paramore, Samia, Trey Anastasio (Phish), Rachel Zegler, Claud, Hank Heaven, Annie DiRusso, Rainey Qualley and Kelsey Lu.

Zegler, who was also in attendance at last year's Ally Coalition show, performed a cover of Joni Mitchell’s "River." From Mitchell's 1971 album Blue, the classic song is about her going through a breakup during the holiday season.

Backed by Antonoff's band Bleachers, the West Side Story star kept the focus on her vocals rather than the glamour, wearing a simple light-gray long-sleeve shirt and straight-leg jeans with a black belt. Zegler also joined in with the rest of the performers to sing Florence + The Machine's hit song, "Dog Days are Over," with Welch.

The show concluded with an all-cast cover of Judee Sill’s classic "Lopin' Along Through the Cosmos," and closed, as it did last year, with Antonoff's "Merry Christmas, Please Don’t Call."

In addition to the concert, the Ally Coalition held its fourth annual Day of Services in New York last Friday, which brought together local LGBTQ organizations, medical services and clothing brands to support the at-risk and homeless youth in the community.
