Fans can easily name more than five Jamie Lee Curtis classics at the drop of a hat, but not many have gotten sequel installments besides the Halloween franchise. The actor reveals which one of her '90s classics she would be more than happy to call Arnold Schwarzenegger about to make a sequel.
In an interview with ScreenRant for her movie, Ella McCay, the movie name drop had the interviewer giddy with excitement.
"I would call my friend Arnold, and I would call Jim (James Cameron) and say, 'Really? Can't we come up with something?"
The movie in question is none other than the action comedy True Lies. Curtis starred opposite Schwarzenegger, who focused on a dull salesman who hides his identity as a covert spy from his family. His worlds collide when a nuclear terrorist involves his wife and daughter.

— Screen Rant (@screenrant) December 15, 2025True Lies became a cult classic success making over $378 million at the box office against its $100 million budget. It became the third-highest-grossing film of 1994, with Curtis winning the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy.
A sequel to the movie was in talks at some point, but it was ultimately scrapped as Cameron focused on his other hits like Titanic and Avatar. In 2023, a series following the same storyline was released but cancelled after one season.
While Curtis wants to revive True Lies with a sequel, she admits it will never happen.
"I know why it can't," she said, while actor Albert Brooks says it could. "No, I know why it can't."
"It was fantastic. And it was written really well, and again it's written well, Jim Cameron wrote that movie Jim Cameron wrote that. He wrote those jokes. It's really funny," she explained.
For the actor, creating a sequel to True Lies would be almost impossible and hard to follow its already well-created storyline and appeal. True Lies might as well be a one-hit wonder that did it right the first time.
