Florida set to lose key receiver to transfer portal after 3 seasons, per report

Florida is about to see its wide receiver depth for the 2026 season suffer some damage with the expected transfer of 3-year veteran Aidan Mizell.

On3 reported on Tuesday morning that Mizell is set to hit the transfer portal early next month when it opens instead of being a part of new head coach Jon Sumrall‘s new regime in Gainesville. Mizell was a redshirt sophomore this past season after coming to Florida as part of its 2023 recruiting class. A lot was expected out of the Orlando product, but his production said otherwise, as he totaled only 38 catches for 405 yards and 3 touchdowns for the Gators.

His 2025 season, which is reportedly going to be his last in Gainesville, was marred by injury. Mizell missed 4 games this year because of injury, playing in only 8 games. Not surprisingly, his production was minimal, with Mizell only catching 19 passes for 177 yards and 1 touchdown in that limited action.

Mizell will have 2 seasons of eligibility left with whatever program he joins for the 2026 season.

His time at Florida got off to a shaky start, setting a bad tone that has now reportedly led to his departure. He only played in 2 games as a freshman in 2023, catching 2 passes for 25 yards. Things picked up a little bit for Mizell during the 2024 season, when he caught 17 passes for 202 yards and 2 touchdowns.

But Mizell wasn’t able to build on that 2024 season as a redshirt sophomore this fall, and injuries didn’t help his cause in 2025.

Now, it appears he’ll be seeking greener pastures in 2026 after a rocky 3-year run in Gainesville.
