Egyptian Cabinet Spokesperson Mohamed al-Homsany said on Monday that there will be no price increases at present time, including January, as the government aims to maintain the downward trend in inflation.
During a phone interview on the program “al-Soura” (The Picture), hosted by journalist Lamis al-Hadidi on Al-Nahar TV, Homsany added that there is absolutely no intention to raise prices on other goods and services such as subsidized food, sugar, or any other products.
“Following the recent increase in petroleum product prices in October, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Petroleum confirmed that there would be no further increases for a full year. There will be no price hikes in this regard, and any increases are usually announced transparently,” he stressed.
Homsany emphasized that – as Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly previously stated – there is no intention to raise any prices in the near future.
