Survivor competitor Savannah Louie went to extreme lengths to make sure she was ready to compete on Season 29, and now she's telling fans exactly what she did to prepare. The 31-year-old from California detailed her grueling preshow diet and exercise routine on Instagram, and fans are stunned by her commitment.

Knowing that food would be scarce and that she would need to compete in highly physical competitions with very little fuel, Louie began a strict regimen of fasted exercise three months before the show was set to film.
"That was based on one big fast at the beginning of the week," she explained. "And during my fast, I would continue do pretty intense workouts." She hoped to "mimic what you're going through when you're playing Survivor" and get "used to working out in a very exhausted, depleted state."
View this post on InstagramThe controversial player said that she would have a big meal on Sunday evenings, and then work out Sunday night, do two workouts Monday, and do another workout Tuesday before finally eating again on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. "So, if you're doing the math, this is about like a 48 to 60 hour fast with several workouts during that time period," she said. "Now that I say that, it actually sounds insane, but this is what I did."
Workouts would include things like hot yoga to mimic the notorious Fiji heat, and she would avoid drinking water during her workouts. However, she would make sure to consume plenty of electrolytes during her fasts, which she believed was "super important."
While she originally ate "whatever the hell she wanted" between fasts, she started removing any addictive substances from her diet one month before the show so she wouldn't have to deal with cravings on top of hunger.

"I decided to cut out anything I was reliant on," she said. "I cut out any coffee or caffeine, [which] was brutal for the first two weeks. I cut out all sugar except for fruit sugar... which was hard because I love a sweet treat. I'm not really the biggest drinker, but I cut out all the alcohol 'cause I was like, 'I don't want to hit the beach and then feel like this huge withdrawal from not having these things that my body is used to.'"
One fan in the comments asked if she still felt the prep was worth it after the show, and she totally believes it improved her performance. "When I first started this routine, it was so tough, but by the time I was ready to leave for Fiji, I had gotten used to pushing my body in my workouts, with little in my tank," she shared. "I’m so glad I did. But at the same time, it was not sustainable for me for the rest of my life."

Fans were stunned by her effort and foresight. One commented, "So freaking cool. Very little people could train like you did, that’s insane (in the most complementary way.)" Another added, "Mad respect for players who truly put effort into the pre-game," while a third said, "No surprise you won 3 challenges! Rooting for your 4th and 5th wins next week!"
It definitely seems like the juice was worth the squeeze, as Savannah proved to be a challenge beast who saved herself by snagging the immunity necklace on multiple occasions.
