Ashley French (née Tisdale) has been making her Malibu beach house a home ever since she and husband Christopher French decided to sell their former house on a whim and move into their vacation home while renovating a new place in Los Angeles. On Nov. 22, French announced that her nesting project was finally compete. "After months of chaos, dust, and twenty paint samples… we made it," she wrote alongside clips of the sweet seaside cottage. "The beach house is officially transformed, and I never want to leave."
A few weeks later, she shared more details from her home, including the curtains that she insists "make the biggest difference." "I wanted that airy, relaxed vibe," she said. "Cozy but still coastal. It’s amazing how much a space can transform with the right light."

French opened up about the sudden urge to "renovate her life" when she was six months pregnant with her second daughter, Emerson Clover French. Her only initial concern about moving into their beach house was the size of it.
"It's not tiny, but at around 1,200 square feet, it doesn't exactly have a ton of extra space," she wrote on her By Ashley French blog. That meant the duo needed to give up their home offices and some shoe storage.

"Now that we're nestled into our beach home, I love how cozy it feels," she said. Though she had to learn how to be "more organized," she found that having a cozier home has made her life "easier."
"It's easier to keep the house clean. It's easier to find lost keys and lost toys. It's even easier to bump into friends since our homes are close together, and we all take walks in the neighborhood," she shared. "What I've learned from this is that when you cut out unnecessary extras, you have more time to enjoy your life and find meaning in it."
