First Alert Weather: The bitter cold will slowly come to an end

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Our very cold temperatures are, at the very least, consistent.  Today makes twenty consecutive days with below normal temperatures and during this time we have had several rounds of lake effect snow.  However, it appears this string of frigid weather will finally be broken.  The next 72 hours will bring a gradual, but steady return to more seasonable temperatures and it will likely be warm enough to melt some of the snow and ice.

Tonight, look for some Lake Erie flurries and snow showers.  Any new snowfall accumulation will likely be west of Rochester with portions of Genesee or Orleans County seeing just an inch or two this evening. The low temperature will be in the middle teens.  Tuesday will feature morning clouds and breaks of sun for the afternoon. The temperature will moderate into the low 30s.  Wednesday will be cloudy and dry with a temperature rising to near 40 degrees. In fact, the temperature will likely reach the upper 40s for Thursday.
