Auburn offensive lineman DeAndre Carter is planning to bolt from the Plains and enter the transfer portal, according to an On3 report on Sunday.
Justin Hokanson, who covers Auburn for On3, posted on his social media account that Carter is heading to the portal in search of another college destination in 2026. The 6-foot-4, 355-pound freshman is a California native who was a 4-star recruit in the 2024 recruiting cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Carter enrolled at Auburn on June 1, 2024, but after 2 years in the program Carter is reportedly heading elsewhere to continue his collegiate career. According to those 247Sports Composite rankings, he was the 197th-ranked player in the Class of 2024, the 10th-ranked interior offensive lineman in the class and the 17th-ranked player from the state of California.

In 2024, Carter played just 40 snaps for the Tigers and was redshirted. Then this year during a redshirt freshman season that was supposed to signal a breakout for Carter, he played even less snaps, according to Pro Football Focus. Per PFF, Carter only played 26 snaps in 2025, with all of those snaps coming at the guard position.
Carter will reportedly seek greener pastures in 2026 as he seeks more playing time.
