2025 SPEEDO WINTER JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS – EAST

Charlotte Crush and Baylor Stanton each topped the final individual point totals at the 2025 Winter Junior Championships – East in Indianapolis.

Crush collected 111 points, the highest scoring girl by 30.5 points, while Stanton’s total of 122 points led the boys’ side by 45 points.

Girls’ High Point – Charlotte Crush (Lakeside Swim Team), 111 Points

Crush competed in six events, winning three of them, and finishing runner-up in the other three. Crush also contributed to three relays en route to her High Point topping finish.

The future tennessee Volunteer Crush opened her scoring with her second-place finish in the 200 IM Crush led through the first 100 yards in the final, but was outsplit by eventual winner Audrey Derivaux on the back half of the race leading to a runner up finish, but still managed to drop about two seconds from her previous best time in the event from March of 2024 in 1:54.87.

That same night, Crush finished 2nd to Rylee Erisman by seven hundredths in the 50 freestyle, narrowly missing her lifetime best of 21.88 with her final time of 22.02.

On night three, Crush dominated in the 100 butterfly, taking the event win by nearly two seconds, and was just one hundredth off of cracking the 50-second barrier in 50.00. Crush went out over a second faster than anybody else in the field. She carried that momentum home on the final 50 to become the 4th fastest 17-18 performer in history, behind Claire Curzan, Alex Shackell, and Torri Huske, the only three to ever break 50 in the event for 17-18.

Crush earned her 2nd victory of the evening and the meet in the 100 backstroke with another near two-second margin of victory. Crush touched in 50.17 to take the win; coming home, Crush was the only competitor to crack 26 seconds, closing in 25.90. That time put her just over half a second off her best time of 49.46 from this meet last year.

On day four, Crush completed her backstroke sweep with a 200 back victory in 1:49.24, the only swimmer in the field under 1:52. The time marked her 4th sub-1:50 effort in the event, but was just off of her lifetime best of 1:48.69. The swim moved her up in the 17-18 age group rankings, as it was her first time competing in this race in this age group; Crush is currently the 7th-fastest performer all time in the 17-18 age group.

Wrapping up her individual events was the 100 free, where she finished 2nd to Erisman once again, posting a 47.72, her fastest of her career by a tenth from last year’s winter Junior Championships.

Boys’ High Point – Baylor Stanton (Gwinnett Aquatics), 122 Points

Stanton, who represents Gwinnett Aquatics, raced in seven individual events during the week, earning three wins, one runner-up finish, two third-place finishes, and a 6th place swim.

The Cal commit opened up with a busy first day of swimming, swimming both the 500 free and 200 IM just half an hour apart from one another. The 500 free was a battle for the top three, with the lead changing places between Stanton, Colin Jacobs, and Trent Allen every 100 yards. It would be Stanton who came out on top to set a lifetime best in 4:17.39, lowering his previous top time from this meet last year in 4:17.51.

With little time to fully recover, Stanton was up on the blocks again for the 200 IM final. Stanton opened up in 5th after the first 50, but reached 2nd by the end of the backstroke leg. His 29.72 breaststroke leg got him to the 150 turn first, before powering home in 24.41 to take the win in 1:42.85. That time destroyed his previous best of 1:44.04 from December of 2023, and moved him up to 15th all-time in the 17-18 age group.

He continued his winning ways the next day in the 400 IM, winning by just under a second and a half, after taking a near two-second lead into the halfway point, and closing in 51.71 on the freestyle to touch in 3:40.48, making him the 5th fastest 17-18 performer in the history of the event.

Later in the session, Stanton finished 3rd in the 100 back in 46.65, which was just off of his best from last month in 46.53.

On the final night of racing, Stanton started his evening with a runner-up finish in the 200 back, clocking a lifetime best in the event, lowering his previous best of 1:40.58 from March of 2024 by three hundredths to 1:40.55. Later, he would touch 6th in the 200 breaststroke in 1:57.13.

Stanton ended his meet on a high note, swimming his fastest ever 200 fly, his third 200 of the evening (6th of the day), and placed 3rd in 1:44.84, his first time under 1:45, besting his previous fastest from this meet last year in 1:45.02.
