Any big fan of 1990s country will tell you that John Michael Montgomery was one of the most memorable stars of the decade. From ballads like "I Love the Way You Love Me" to "I Swear" to "I Can Love You Like That," to faster, catchy tunes including "Sold" and "Be My Baby Tonight," each song is impossible not to sing along with.
Now 60 years old, it's time for Montgomery to hang up his hat on touring, and he just played his final concert at Rupp Arena at the University of Kentucky on Friday, December 12.
We can only imagine how emotional the night was for him, especially when he was given an unexpected surprise on stage during the show.
As you'll see the video below, Montgomery is a lifelong Kentucky resident, so it was only fitting for his final show to be held at Rupp Arena.
The caption explains, "Surrounded by his family, including his wife, Crystal, son@Walker Montgomery, his daughter Madison, son in law @travisdenning, and soon to be daughter in law, Krista of @Tigirlily Gold, #johnmichaelmontgomery was surprised with a banner inside Rupp Arena, commemorating his final concert. He was left speechless and wiped tears away as he admitted it was one of the most special moments of his career."

If there is one song of his that perfectly sums up him ending his touring chapter and starting a new one, it has to be "Life's a Dance."
