NFL Week 15: Bears vs. Browns — Lineups, Inactives, Updated Playoff Odds, More

NFL WEEK 15: CHICAGO BEARS VS. CLEVELAND BROWNS — This is a game that Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson said his team “desperately” needs to win. And while this isn’t a win-or-go-home game, it is as close as you’ll get to a “must-win” game in the regular season.

As far as I’m concerned, last week’s game against the Green Bay Packers began a stretch of virtual playoff games for Chicago’s football team. Every player needs to be at their best. The same can be said for each coach and staffer. This is no time for stupid penalties. There are no possessions to waste. The time is now to play your best ball. Otherwise, the only January football on our schedule will be the regular-season finale.

    WEEK 15 GAME DAY NOTEBOOK

As of Sunday morning, The Athletic’s NFL Playoff Simulator gives the Bears a 70 percent chance of making the playoffs. A win would boost their playoff probabilities to 77 percent. However, a loss would knock the team’s chances down to 54 percent. That is a swing of 23 percentage points, folks. The deeper we get into December, the higher the stakes that each game carries. In other words, Chicago’s first-year head coach isn’t speaking out of pocket when calling this a must-win game.
