A popular fast-food chain is closing multiple locations just as it rolls out a major holiday promotion.
Whataburger has confirmed plans to close four Middle Tennessee restaurants later this month, less than four years after returning to the region, even as the company launches its 12 Days of holiday deals for customers nationwide.

According to The Tennessean, the following restaurants will permanently close on Monday, December 15, at 11:59 p.m.:

“We regularly conduct a business review of our locations to maximize opportunities for growth and keep Whataburger strong in the communities we serve. In a few cases, that means closing restaurants,” the company said.

The chain added that the decision helps it “focus our efforts where we can make the biggest impact.”
Notably, the Mt. Juliet location opened just July 9, 2024, after Whataburger returned to the Nashville area in January 2022 for the first time since the 1970s.
Despite the closures, Whataburger says it is continuing to expand in Middle Tennessee.
The company plans to open additional locations in the Nashville area, including a new restaurant off Gallatin Avenue, in the coming months. Whataburger will also continue operating other nearby locations, including one on Rutland Drive in Mt. Juliet and two restaurants in neighboring Lebanon.
The Mt. Juliet property that is closing is leased from Lineberry Properties under a 15-year lease, and the landlord expects the space to be subleased.

While some locations are shutting down, Whataburger is also kicking off a nationwide holiday promotion for its rewards members.
The chain announced 12 Days of Whatacheer, a seasonal lineup of daily in-app deals running Dec. 12 through Dec. 23. The offers are available exclusively to Whataburger Rewards members through the company’s app.
Each day features a new deal, including complimentary add-ons, buy-one-get-one offers, and other limited-time rewards across popular menu items.
“12 Days of Whatacheer is Whataburger’s way of celebrating the season with a bit of holiday magic and special savings just for our Rewards members,” said Whataburger Chief Marketing Officer Scott Hudler.

Rewards members must log into the Whataburger app each day to claim that day’s offer, with a new deal appearing every morning.
The announcement highlights a mixed moment for the Texas-based chain: scaling back in some markets while leaning into customer loyalty and holiday promotions nationwide.
For customers in Middle Tennessee, the closures mark another shift in the region’s fast-food landscape. For Whataburger fans elsewhere, the holiday deals offer a reason to keep checking the app as the year winds down.
