A new study analyzing the annual NFLPA Player Report Card reveals the league’s most generous team owners. The Player Report Card curates feedback from 1,695 NFL players who share information about their current clubs in an effort to inform players across the league about working conditions within each franchise. The Action Network then analyzes that data, which rates everything from food programs and facilities to ownership and coaching, to create a list of the league’s most generous and least generous team owners.
Stephen Ross Named the NFL’s Most Generous Team Owner
View this post on InstagramBusinessman Stephen Ross, 85, earns the title of the NFL’s most generous team owner based on the data. Scoring a minimum of an A grade in every category of the 2025 NFLPA Player Report Card, the Dolphins received higher overall marks from players than any other NFL team.
Real estate developer Stephen Ross built his wealth through real estate. His company, Related Companies, which he founded in 1972, is a global real estate firm currently valued at $60 billion.
Ross first purchased a 50 percent stake in the Miami Dolphins in 2008 and then acquired an additional 45 percent in 2009. Worth an estimated $15 billion as of 2025, Ross is also a major investor in fitness brands like SoulCycle and Equinox and holds stakes in the Formula One Miami Grand Prix and the Miami Open tennis tournament. Ross also owns Hard Rock Stadium, home of the Miami Dolphins, as well as major real estate projects such as Hudson Yards in Manhattan.
Spending Doesn’t Always Equal Winning
Ross may be known for his generosity toward players, coaches, and families, but big spending doesn’t always equal winning. The Miami Dolphins haven’t won a Super Bowl since Super Bowl VIII in 1973, just the second time the franchise captured the championship.
Despite the Dolphins’ lack of Super Bowl victories in recent decades, the team is the 11th most valuable NFL franchise, proving that owners can still spend heavily and turn a profit.

The least generous NFL team owner is Michael Bidwill of the Arizona Cardinals, with Robert Kraft of the New England Patriots following closely behind.
