Fans of the hit sitcomFriends, which ran for 10 seasons from 1994 to 2004 and starred major actors like Jennifer Aniston and Matthew Perry, can finally achieve their dream of living like the characters and visiting the Central Perk Coffeehouse every day, as a permanent location just opened up in New York City.
The new cafe opened its doors for the first time on Dec. 12 at 20 Times Square, with fans now able to grab a variety of food and drink options inspired by the show as they hang out in the fun space. The NYC location comes after a highly successful Central Perk Coffeehouse opened up in Boston, Mass., in 2023.
The interior of Central Perk includes plenty of references to Friends, with the iconic orange couch a major focus of one corner of the space. There are also chic contemporary touches in the design, such as the subway tile behind the counter, the brick accents, and the checkerboard floor section.

While the NYC cafe features many menu favorites from the Boston location, it also introduces two exclusive new items, as revealed in a press release shared with Parade.
This includes The One with NYC Matcha, which is described as "a layered iced matcha latte blended with oat milk, featuring rich strawberry purée, and topped with a savory cream cheese cold foam. When mixed, it evokes the flavors of strawberry-matcha cheesecake."

The second new item is the NY Relaxi Taxi Tall Iced Cooler, which is "made with half lemonade and half iced green tea, brightened with lavender syrup, and finished with sparkling water and a lemon wheel for a taxi-yellow accent, it’s an antidote to the hustle and bustle of Times Square."

Paul Landino, CenPer Holdings, LLC, company executive, spoke about the expansion of Central Perk in a statement, saying, “When we opened in Boston, the response showed us how much appetite there is for a real-world Central Perk, and how seamlessly the concept integrated into the existing neighborhood culture."
“Now in New York, we’re excited to build on that energy with our enhanced menu and Tom’s signature offering, a refreshed design inspired by the show, and experiences that will feel both nostalgic and brand new," Landino concluded.
Fans who visit the NYC Central Perk Coffeehouse can also buy exclusive merchandise inspired by Friends and several original coffee blends. The coffee, as well as a selection of merch, is also available for purchase on centralperk.com.
