Derek Hough’s casual Survivor comment just got an official response from Emmy-winning Survivor host Jeff Probst.
While "nesting" as they await the arrival of their first child, Hough and wife Hayley Erbert Hough have been binge-watching Survivor. The Dancing With the Stars pro-turned-judge recently joked that he’d compete on Survivor if Boston Rob Mariano agreed to do DWTS. Hough got to know the Survivor champ during Dancing With the Stars' most recent season because Boston Rob's Traitors BFF Dylan Efron competed on season 34, finishing in fourth place, and Rob was there cheering him on quite a bit throughout the season.
Survivor's longtime host Probst reposted Hough's message about Boston Rob and then addressed Hough directly in a new Instagram story—turning a playful idea into a much bigger moment.

Hough shared Probst’s response by reposting it to his own Instagram stories, writing, “Me and my big mouth ?♂️. Also geeking out over this message.”
Clicking through to Probst’s stories reveals a video of the Survivor host speaking straight to the camera and sending Hough an unmistakable message.
“Derek! I am so happy to hear you finally discovered Survivor!” Probst said. “That's OK it took a while, you've been busy. And you're diggin' it?! Welcome to the tribe, and congratulations on Dancing With the Stars' most recent season. You guys really killed it, it was great.”

Probst continued, "And I gotta say, I love that you just put this idea out into the ether because I think you're gonna be surprised how many of your fans are going to want to see you compete on Survivor."
He went on to zero in on the key player in Hough’s proposed reality-TV trade: Boston Rob, who has competed on Survivor five times, winning once and meeting his wife Amber Brkich Mariano, who beat him in the All-Stars finale. They now have four daughters and have been married for over 20 years.
“And now that you've issued a dare to Rob, this could get interesting,” Probst said, “'cause you know as well as I do that Boston Rob is the kind of guy that will take that dare and end up winning Dancing With the Stars.”

Probst didn’t stop there.
“And then the pressure's really on you 'cause not only are you out on Survivor next year with us, you gotta win! Let me knowwwwww……”
Hough’s original Survivor comments came during an Instagram video where he admitted he had never watched the show before, saying it “just never was in my sphere” until recently. That same clip also included a callback to another promise he made online—his vow to shave his head after joking about a People’s Sexiest Man Alive nomination.

In the background of his Survivor message, Hayley can be heard saying, "I don’t know if I’d put that out there...."
