Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Deepak Hooda has been in trouble ahead of the IPL 2026 mini-auction, which is scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi on December 16. The BCCI has informed all ten franchises about the suspect-action category, which included Hooda during the previous IPL season.
Hooda had an underwhelming season with the Chennai Super Kings in the 2025 season. He was released by the franchise ahead of the auction. The all-rounder has played 125 IPL matches, scoring over 1,500 runs and taking 10 wickets. He is now part of the AL1 all-rounder category for the much-awaited auction.
Trouble for Ex-CSK Star Deepak Hooda Ahead of IPL 2026 Auction
According to a report by Cricbuzz, Deepak Hooda’s bowling future in the IPL has become uncertain after he was listed for the second straight year among players with suspect action.
Hooda featured in seven matches for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025, but he didn’t bowl at all. If the BCCI’s review confirms that his action is illegal, he could be barred from bowling in the 2026 season.
The board has already informed all ten franchises about the latest notice regarding Hooda just days before the December 16 mini-auction. Notably, Hooda bowled only one over in the Ranji Trophy and five overs in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he managed one wicket.
Apart from Hooda, only one other player, Jammu and Kashmir’s Abid Mushtaq, is currently on the BCCI’s suspect-action list.
