So that’s Danny Jansen, who was last seen being a really awesome back-up for the Brewers, getting a healthy back-up payday in Texas. There, he’ll split time with Kyle Higashioka, who, together with Jansen, were at one time considered Cubs targets … before they signed Carson Kelly. Good call, Jed.
Alexis Diaz, you might recall, was once upon a time a great closer for the Reds, but has fallen completely off. Is that a big league deal that he’s getting? Great get for him, if so, given the total disaster that was 2025.
Tyler Alexander has himself had a couple down years on the results side of the ledger, but his peripherals were strong this past season with the Brewers and White Sox.
To be sure, neither Diaz nor Alexander interested me all that much, and the Cubs were never in on Tyler Rogers, who also signed tonight (Blue Jays), but the relief market is clearly humming along. Hopefully the Cubs can stay in the mix …
