CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — Big changes are underway in the Ontario County District Attorney’s Office. Acting District Attorney Kelly Wolford is resigning effective Saturday.
Wolford said the office will be down to one assistant district attorney as of next week. She mentioned that a fully staffed office employs 19.
Jason MacBride, hired as Wolford’s backup, defeated incumbent Jim Ritts in the Republican primary over the summer. Ritts retired in October.
MacBride will take over as acting district attorney on Sunday and will officially become the Ontario County District Attorney on Jan. 1.

MacBride announced last month that defense attorney James Nobles will join the Ontario County District Attorney’s Office as a prosecutor in 2026.
