Homer Glen Mayor Neitzke-Troike posted on social media Thursday stating that she spoke with the Mayor of Lemont and was informed that a similar incident to the home invasion that occurred on the 16800 block of South Deer Path Wednesday afternoon also occurred in Lemont.
“After speaking with the Mayor of Lemont, a similar situation (details to come, as I do not have them), just took place in Lemont today. Please be aware of your surroundings,” she said.
No additional details about the incident that occurred in Lemont were immediately available.
The Homer Glen incident occurred just before 3 p.m. Wednesday on the 16800 block of South Deer Path, authorities said. According to Neitzke-Troike, an older woman had pulled into her garage and was unloading groceries when she was held at gunpoint by someone who came into her garage from the side of the house. A car pulled up behind them in her driveway, a Neitzke-Troike said, with another person getting out also pointing a gun.
The first man demanded cash from her and she noted that the second man got out of a dark-colored Acura she noticed was following her.
The woman was then forced inside her home by the two men where they tied her to a chair using rope and telephone cords, the mayor said.
The two then rummaged through her house, stealing valuables and threatening her life if she didn’t provide her correct credit card PIN numbers.
