2025 Winter Junior Championships – East
TAC Titans’ Davis Jackson has scratched the boys’ 100 butterfly heading into the Speedo Winter Junior National Championships – East Friday prelims session.
The scratch will leave Jackson more rested for the final event of the session, the 100 backstroke. Jackson’s time of 46.64 seeds him 1st in that event and was the 4th fastest time by a 15-16-year-old boy when it was swum in August. Jackson has since moved up to the 17-18 age group.
The Cal class of 2027 commit is entered in one other event at the meet, the 200 backstroke, where he is seeded 2nd with a time of 1:41.28.
Cincinnati Marlins’ Chase Grisi has scratched the boys’ 200 freestyle, where his entry time of 1:36.89 earned him the 6th seed. That seed was by far Grisi’s highest of the meet, with his remaining entries coming in the 100 fly (39th seed), 100 free (40th seed), and 200 fly (52nd seed).
SwimMAC Carolina’s Isabella Green was the only girls’ swimmer seeded in the top 20 of Friday’s prelims to scratch an event, having been set to compete in the 100 breast as the 7th seed. Her only remaining entry for the meet is in the 200 breast, where her entry time of 2:12.80 seeds her 8th.
Three other swimmers seeded in the top 20 scratched an event ahead of Friday prelims. Birmingham Blue’s AJ Farner scratched the 400 IM, where he was the 17th seed. He will compete as the 80th seed in the 100 backstroke later in the session.
Baylor Swim Club’s Hayden Vicknair scratched the 200 free, in which he was seeded 11th. Vicknair is the 9th seed in the 100 fly, the event before the 200 free.
Bolles School Sharks’ Charlie Zuhoski scratched the 100 breast, in which he was seeded 17th. Before the scratch, he was scheduled to swim a triple, also racing in the 200 free (79th seed) and 100 back (11th seed).
