Arizona State safety Xavion Alford declared for the NFL Draft, he announced on Thursday, forgoing his final year of college football eligibility.
After six years in college and an All-conference nod, the 6-foot defensive back is ready to move forward.
“I came here on a mission to make it a better place when I left than when I came,” Alford wrote. “This is a place I will always call home. The experiences and lifelong relationships are something I will truly cherish for the rest of my life.”

Alford joined the program in 2023 but had to sit out for a year due to the NCAA’s two-time transfer rules, which have since been lifted.
In 2024, Alford joined the inaugural Tillman Leadership Council and followed that up with a stellar season on the field.
He made the All-Big 12 First Team, as he played 14 games with 85 tackles, seven passes defensed and two interceptions. He finished second to Myles Rowser on the team in tackles and continued to prove himself as a leader while ASU won the Big 12 and reached the College Football Playoff.
Alford did this having not played a game since 2021, as he missed all of 2022 with injuries while attending USC.

“This year was taken away from me due to injury, but it is a must I move on and follow my dreams,” Alford said. “I hope I was able to give you guys an unbelievable experience and lifelong memories at Mountain American Stadium.”
The NFL Draft starts on April 24.
