Actor Ed Burns and model Christy Turlington's 22-year marriage has stayed strong due to a simple rule they swear by.
"My wife and I, very early on, had an agreement, because our respective jobs do require a bit of travel," Burns told Fox News Digital on Tuesday. "We had a two-week rule where neither one of us was allowed to be gone for more than two weeks at a time. And a lot of times, we had to look at our calendars and sometimes say no to a particular job that would require travel that might have us gone for a longer period of time."
However, as life as gone on and the two are now empty nesters—they share 22-year-old Grace and 19-year-old Finn— the rule has become a bit more lax.
"We don’t have to stick to that in the same way," he added. "But we still try not to do jobs that will have us away from one another for too long."

The actor, 57, recently starred in 'The Family McMullen,' which had a one-night theater release in October, and then was released on HBO to stream earlier this month. The film, a sequel to 1995's 'Brothers McMullen,' also stars Connie Britton and follows family dynamics and traditions.
