Elvis Presley Promises ‘My Side of the Story’ as EPiC Film Drops Lost Footage Teaser

In a newly dropped teaser for the EPiC (Elvis Presley in Concert) film, Elvis Presley is finally telling his side of the story.

"There's been a lot written and a lot said," admits the King of Rock and Roll. "But never from my side of the story."

Baz Luhrmann, NEON Films, and Universal Pictures are the driving forces behind the new concert film featuring Presley in concert in the late 1960s. Together, they’re promising an intimate look at the king during one of the most electric periods of his career.

An Instagram film trailer teases, "In 1969, Elvis returned to the stage to begin a legendary residency in Las Vegas. For 40 years, there have been rumors of lost footage."

"During the production of Baz Luhrmann's Elvis, it was found. This is more than a documentary. This is more than a concert film. This is Baz Luhrmann's EPiC," it concluded.

The teaser, set to the soundtrack of Presley's "An American Trilogy," is filled with intimate home footage. Featured clips include Presley on vacation, a look at his daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, as an infant with then-wife Priscilla Presley, the king in concert, and in the recording studio.

EPiC features lost footage of Elvis Presley

In January 2025, Baz Luhrmann told Deadline, “There has always been talk amongst Elvis’ fans, both longtime fans and newer fans brought in by our film Elvis, of missing reels and never-before-seen concert footage. During the making of Elvis, from very early on in my process I had the privilege to access the studio’s vaults deep in the salt mines of Kansas, where troves of old film negatives are stored."

He continued, "We were astonished by the sheer volume of unused footage from Elvis: That’s the Way It Is, the film of Elvis’ legendary 1970 Summer Festival in Las Vegas – all shot on anamorphic 35mm – and also from Elvis’ road concert film from two years later, Elvis on Tour."

Luhrmann concluded, “Equally exciting was that we found not only picture that has never been seen at this quality but also rare behind-the-scenes audio that had been feared lost, especially some fascinating recordings of Elvis telling stories from his own life in his own words.”

The filmmaker is hopeful EPiC shines a new light on the King of Rock and Roll, allowing fans to see him in an entirely new way. He told Deadline in September that off stage, Elvis was still a "very insecure little boy from the poorest of the poor part of Tupelo, whose father went to jail, whose mother had to leave in the middle of the night and change locations. And who never, ever felt quite good enough and was looking for, I think, the affirmation of unconditional love, and the only unconditional love he probably felt came across the footlights."

EPiC will be released in IMAX on February 20 for one week. Following, a worldwide release begins on February 27.
