Almost 6,000 people were without power across Colorado’s Front Range on Tuesday as wind gusts reaching 90 mph swept through the state, according to outages reported by Xcel Energy and CORE Electric Cooperative.
Xcel Energy crews were responding to power outages across metro Denver and the mountain corridor, including outages impacting 2,514 customers near Idaho Springs and 1,455 customers near Boulder, according to Xcel’s outage map.
Power was restored to all but 369 customers near Idaho Springs as of 11:45 a.m.
Approximately 500 other customers reported additional outages across the metro.

“Crews are assessing and will work as quickly as possible to restore service,” officials said.
High winds also closed several highways on Tuesday, and a high wind warning from the National Weather Service is active for north-central Colorado through Tuesday night.
