Brooke Shields didn’t even make it through the first minutes of her return to guest-hosting on Today With Jenna & Friends before she and Jenna Bush Hager dissolved into laughter.
The 60-year-old actress had just taken her seat on Monday morning’s show on December 8 when she realized she was sitting much lower than her cohost. She was low enough to look like she’d been dropped into a completely different setup.

“Why am I at the kids’ table?” Shields asked, staring at her unusually short white chair as the audience started to catch on.
Hager, 44, glanced over and immediately saw the height difference.
“You guys, something’s wrong. Something is very wrong,” she said, laughing as the two tried to figure out what had gone sideways.
Rather than let the mishap throw her off, Shields leaned into the moment. She joked that the show was clearly trying to keep her from towering over Hager.
“I get it. It’s your show. I get it!” she teased while trying to sit taller by tucking one foot underneath her.
Hager kept the bit going. “Is this the first time in your whole life you’ve ever felt not tall?” she asked. “Wow, we’ve never had a chair issue!”

Once it was fixed, Hager admitted the entire thing threw her off balance.
“That was hilarious. I was like, ‘Why am I so much taller?’ That moment when I looked over, I was like, ‘Something is not right,’” she explained with a chuckle.
Shields laughed just as hard.
“I’m being really difficult, I know. I’m so sorry. I was like, ‘Things have changed since I’ve been here,’” she joked once everything was back to normal.
This marks another stint at the desk for Shields, who previously joined Hager to cohost the fourth hour in March and again in July. Viewers have been vocal about loving their easy chemistry, with some even suggesting the actress as a strong contender for a long-term spot.

Hager has been working with rotating cohosts since Hoda Kotb stepped away from Today in January to focus on her children and her wellness brand, Joy 101. Earlier this year Hager told People that the mix of actors, comedians and media personalities reflects what they want the hour to feel like.
“It really does feel like we’re pulling up chairs for all different types of people,” she said.
