In a December 2023 episode of his former Full House co-stars, Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber's podcast, How Rude, Tanneritos, Stamos revealed that he and Saget weren't close when they first met. The two actors began starring on Full House during its first season, which premiered in 1987.
"Bob and I didn't like each other for a good long time," said Stamos on the podcast episode.
He clarified that he always thought Saget was "talented' and "funny."
"I thought he was a genius. I just wouldn't tell him until years later," quipped Stamos.
He then explained that he didn't agree with how Saget worked on set as an actor.
"His process was very different than mine," said Stamos.
Stamos then explained that he was used to "break[ing] apart every scene" as an actor. Sweetin, who played Danny's middle daughter, Stephanie, lovingly chimed in that Saget would "just be an idiot" when on set.

During the December 2023 How Rude, Tanneritos interview, Stamos said he was devastated when he received news from Saget's widow, Kelly Rizzo, that the comedian had died in January 2022.
In a November 2023 interview on the Jennifer Hudson Show, Stamos said he was "very broken up" about Saget's death, which was a result of "blunt head trauma," per People magazine. In addition, Stamos said he believed he received a sign from his late mother, Loretta Phillips, who died in 2014, and Saget in the form of a hummingbird.
Stamos explained that his mother used to tell him his late father, William John Stamos, who died in 2001, would visit them as a hummingbird. He recalled that following Saget's death, he was out in his backyard and asked his former Full House co-star to give him a sign.
"I said 'Bob come on show me a sign man. Show me that you're okay up there,'" said Stamos during the November 2023 interview.
He said that he then saw this "little hummingbird" with red markings that looked like his mother's red hair and a red scarf she "used to wear."
"It was her saying, 'It's okay. We're okay. Bob's up here. And just be kind to one another and be loving like he was,'" said Stamos.
