Reba McEntire, 70, and Rex Linn's sweet relationship continues to melt fans' hearts worldwide, and they shared a little more insight into their romance during a Dec. 8 visit to The Drew Barrymore Show. The adorable Happy's Place costars revealed how they got their cute "Tater Tot" and "Sugar Tot" nicknames for each other, leading them to become known jointly as "The Tots."
"The waitress came into this little private room and said, Hey, we have a very, very special appetizer. I know you just had a huge meal, but we have a great appetizer list... Tonight we have tater tots,' and Reba immediately replied, 'I’ll take two orders of those,'" 69-year-old Linn recalled.
The Better Call Saul actor admitted he's famous for giving everyone nicknames, and that moment became the basis for his now-fiancée's. "Since she was pounding these tater tots, I said, 'Your nickname is Tater Tot from now on,'" he shared with a laugh. "That’s how she got the name Tater Tot."
However, it was actually McEntire's sister, Susie McEntire, who came up with Linn's pet name. "During COVID, when I was in Oklahoma after Mama had passed and we were talking every day, my sister Susie heard that he called me Tater Tot and said, 'Well, you should call him Sugar Tot,'" McEntire recalled. "We became The Tots."

From there, the relationship turned romantic, with Linn finally proposingon Christmas Eve 2024, which they admitted in September 2025.
