ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The ROC Against Gun Violence Coalition hosted an event Saturday night at the Prayer House of God by Faith Church, featuring a screening of the Academy Award-nominated short film “Death by Numbers.”
The film highlights the impact of gun violence and the urgent need for community-driven solutions. Councilmember Willie Lightfoot Sr., chairman of the coalition, emphasized the importance of the event.
“These victims and the pain and the trauma associated with violence and gun violence last for decades and for years,” Lightfoot said. “We’re hoping that we can raise the awareness to that conversation. We’re hoping we can recruit people to be a part of the coalition and that we can continue to work to figure out solutions of ending gun violence.”
After the screening, attendees participated in a discussion with filmmaker and gun violence survivor Sam Fuentes.
