Georgia, despite dominating Alabama and winning the SEC, was tabbed as the 3-seed in the College Football Playoff behind Ohio State, which lost the Big Ten title game against Indiana.
You’d think the immediate reaction to that reality would be anger, but that really has not been the case. In fact, Georgia claiming the 3-seed could be viewed as a blessing in disguise for the Bulldogs. Here’s why.
The 2-seed will face off against the winner of the 7/10 game, which this year will pit Miami against Texas A&M. The 3-seed, however, will play the winner of the 6/11 game, which is Tulane vs. Ole Miss. The Rebels are a good team, no doubt, but it remains to be seen how they’ll fare without Lane Kiffin on the sidelines. Tulane, all respect to Tulane, is Tulane. Either of those matchups are favorable for Georgia compared to Texas A&M or Miami.
I love Georgia fans so much. While everyone else is mad about this or that, UGA people are slinking around trying to act like they didn’t just score a proverbial double bye at the 3-seed. pic.twitter.com/7K7Swvn7Lf
— Brett Hiltbrand (@brett_hiltbrand) December 7, 2025Georgia given the easy route at the 3 seed is hilarious
— Buckeye Empire (@BuckeyeEmpire) December 7, 2025Ohio State is the #2 seed and plays the winner of Miami vs Texas A&MGeorgia is the #3 seed and plays the winner of Tulane vs Ole MissMaybe being the #3 seed is an upgrade?
— Sir Yacht (@SirYacht_) December 7, 2025Having Ohio state at 2 is straight up stupid – there’s no justification for them ahead of a Georgia on resume. But having said that, being 3 seed is actually a better deal for Georgia.
— Heath Cline (@heathradio) December 7, 2025Georgia getting the 3-seed with a potential Lane Kiffin-less Ole Miss is a more favorable draw than getting the 2-seed.
— Connor O'Gara (@cjogara) December 7, 2025Georgia at #3 – Kirby loves this… no resepect.. no love.. should be higher… He's going to milk this to a natty
— Zach Klein (@ZachKleinWSB) December 7, 2025The committee rewarded Georgia and punished Ohio State by keeping Georgia below OSUThe 3 seed is the better draw and everyone knows itCase in point: Georgia's title odds increased after the selection show and Ohio State's got worse
— Big Radish Industry (@SayomGD) December 7, 2025Once it became clear Ohio State and Georgia would be 2/3, the No. 6 was cemented as the worst at-large seed in the field. Good luck to the Rebels.
— Jon Wilner (@wilnerhotline) December 7, 2025Georgia got a gift being the 3 seed. Having to play Tulane or Ole Miss without their coach.
— Jeremy (@JDub_208) December 7, 2025The committee loses credibility by putting Ohio St at 2. Look at who they beat vs Georgia. The resumes are not even close. UGA has second strength of record and 15th ranked SOS. Ohio St has 5th strength of record and 30th SOS. Ohio St beat nobody pic.twitter.com/btuxtojVZL
