ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A cold and snowy day today as a clipper system with some lake enhancement passes through. No major accumulations; just around 1-2″ north of the Thruway and the higher elevations of the Finger Lakes. An inch or less elsewhere in the Finger Lakes region. Temperatures will be in the low 30s and wind chill will be 5 to 10 degrees colder. Widespread snow transitions to Lake Ontario snow showers for the evening, and that will taper off overnight as temperatures plummet.
Monday will be snow-free but very cold. We’ll wake up to 15 degrees and only get up to the low 20s amid partly clouy skies. Tuesday morning is colder with single digit lows and wind chill values possibly below zero. Some afternoon and evening snow then with another weak small clipper system, and Wednesday will feature both snow and rain as another warmer clipper system moves through. If roads are untreated they may be icy Thursday morning as temperatures will drop below freezing after the rain on Wednesday.
The colder than average patter continues the rest of the week with frequent chances for lake snow and clipper systems. No major snow events are expected at this time, however.
