Beloved Elf Costume Sells For Wild Sum — See Other Highlights From New Auction

Elf probably ranks up there on fans' lists of all-time favorite Christmas movies.

And this week, one lucky fan walked away with Buddy's screen-matched elf costume — for a whopping $316,008 (including buyer's premium).

Propstore is holding its London Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction, which kicked off Friday, Dec. 5. A total of 425 rare and significant film and TV items were offered, the company announced on Saturday, Dec. 6.

In addition to the impressive Elf item's sale, the top performer of the day was Boba Fett’s hero screen-, photo- and serial number-matched EE-3 carbine blaster from Irvin Kershner’s Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (1980). The piece achieved $607,068 after competitive bidding, Propstore reports. As the sci-fi film marks its 40th anniversary, the result highlights the enduring impact of the Star Wars franchise and the sustained demand for original-trilogy artifacts.

Another major benchmark from Friday was the sale of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s lightsaber, accompanied by a George Lucas–signed Letter of Authenticity, from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace (1999). The piece sold for $382,536, establishing a new world record for the highest price achieved for a prequel-trilogy lightsaber at auction.

Another standout result was Indiana Jones’ Fedora from The Temple of Doom (1984), which achieved $482,328 after a spirited bidding run.
