A 23-year-old man remained hospitalized Saturday after sustaining severe head trauma in a collision near the Otay Mesa border crossing in San Diego.
San Diego Police Department officers were called at 2:37 p.m. Friday to the 2100 block of Britannia Boulevard, where the victim was riding a moped to the right of slower vehicles on the roadway, SDPD Officer Jose Perales said.
According to Perales, a 45-year-old woman driving a black 2018 Cadillac XTS SUV northbound on Britannia began making right-hand turn into a driveway, causing the moped to strike the passenger side of the SUV.
Alcohol was not a factor in the collision, Perales said.
The department’s Traffic Division was handling the investigation and anyone with information related to the collision was asked to call 858-495-7800 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
