President Donald Trump thinks the National Football League should change its name.
While attending the FIFA World Cup draw in Washington, D.C. on Friday, Dec. 5, the president said he finds it confusing that other countries use the word “football” for soccer while American football is an entirely different sport.
"When you look at what has happened to football in the United States, again, soccer in the United States, we seem to never call it that because we have a little bit of a conflict with another thing that's called football," he explained. "But when you think about it, shouldn't it really be called [football]? I mean this is football, there's no question about it, we have to come up with another name for the NFL stuff."
"It really doesn't make sense when you think about it," he added.

"Well even a broken clock is right twice a day," wrote one user. "Only good thing that has ever come out of his filthy mouth." commented another.
"Good luck with that Donald. I have always thought it was absurd to be called football," added a third. "It obviously best applies to soccer, where you expressly use your feet and are penalized if you use your hands. But no one is going to change it."
Also at the World Cup draw, the president was awarded the new FIFA peace prize by FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
Trump, who has openly campaigned for the Nobel Peace Prize, was widely viewed as a frontrunner for the newly created honor. Infantino even said he believed Trump deserved a Nobel Peace Prize for his role in negotiating a ceasefire in Gaza.
While awarding the prize, Infantino told Trump it was a “beautiful medal for you that you can wear everywhere you want to go.”
"You definitely deserve the first FIFA peace prize for your action, for what you have obtained – in your way – but you obtained it in an incredible way," Infantino said. "And you can always count, Mr. President, on my support, on the support of the entire football community, or soccer community to help you make peace and make the world prosper."
Trump called receiving the award “one of the great honors” of his life.
