Chicago Bears Injury Report: Rome Odunze, Two Others Ruled OUT For Sunday’s Game vs. Packers

Crud. The final Chicago Bears injury report of the week is out … and so is Rome Odunze.

The Bears’ leading receiver is one of three Bears players who have been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers. Odunze has shown up as a DNP on each of the three Bears injury report updates this week because of a foot injury. I held out hope that Oduze was getting rest days earlier in the week. After all, Odunze had dealt with foot and heel injuries earlier in the year and would suit up on game day. Unfortunately, that is not the case this week.

I suppose that the good news here is that the Bears have a bunch of weapons for quarterback Caleb Williams to spread the ball to on Sunday. But it won’t be the same without Odunze, who leads Chicago’s offense in targets (90), catches (44), receiving yards (6), and tied for the team-lead in total touchdowns (6). We’ll dig into the offense’s options sans Odunze later today.

WEEK 14 PREVIEW — CHICAGO BEARS AT GREEN BAY PACKERS

Joining Rome Odunze as already being ruled out are cornerback Tyrique Stevenson and linebacker Ruben Hyppolite II. Stevenson has a mainstay on the Bears injury report the last two weeks because of a hip injury. Thankfully, Chicago’s football team has seen the return of Kyler Gordon and Jaylon Johnson to the secondary. Those additions have helped soften the blow of losing Stevenson. As for Hyppolite, he has been dealing with a shoulder injury since the team’s Week 12 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers. But at least he was a limited participant in Friday’s practice. That could bode well for the future. We’ll keep an eye on the Bears injury report next week to see if the positive trend continues.

The following players were listed as full participants on the Friday Bears injury report and have no injury designation ahead of Sunday’s game against the Packers:

Linebacker T.J. Edwards (hand, hamstring) Defensive tackle Andrew Billings (concussion) Cornerback Jaylon Johnson (groin) Running back Kyle Monangai (ankle) Defensive lineman Dominique Robinson (concussion) Linebacker Noah Sewell (elbow)

Some good news from the Bears injury report is that the team will have two of its regular linebackers back in the lineup, including starter T.J. Edwards. Seeing Robinson and Billings clear concussion protocol with no issues is encouraging, too. As is Monangai’s upgrade from DNP on Wednesday to full participant on Friday. Sure, the Odunze news still stings. But it isn’t all bad news from the Bears injury report.
