ROCHESTER, N.Y. – High pressure cleared our skies and calmed our wind overnight, which allowed a lot of heat to escape. The result? Morning temperature of 5 degrees in downtown Rochester… It hasn’t been that cold since February 2nd. We’ll be mostly sunny through the day, but it won’t help much. Highs this afternoon will be in the mid to upper 20s with wind chill values peaking in the low 20s. If you’re headed to the Roc Holiday Village or Keg Tree Lighting, it goes without saying that you will need to wear warm layers.
We get down to 20 degrees tonight but no snow until early tomorrow afternoon. A cold front will kick up some light snow showers, with more lake effect snow showers expected Saturday evening. It will be less cold with highs in the low 30s, but winds will make it feel like the low 20s. Only minor accumulations are expected.
Sunday will be colder with highs in the low 30s and more widespread snow showers in the afternoon. These will also contain some lake enhanced snow showers, but again, nothing significant. By the end of the weekend we will have gotten only around 1-2″ more snow.
Monday will be very similar to today with high pressure clearing our skies and cooling us down back to the mid 20s, then we have more chances for snow showers through midweek, and temperatures won’t get past the 20s through next weekend.
