How old were Donny and Marie Osmond when they hosted the 'Donny & Marie' Show?
Donny Osmond and Marie Osmond were just 18 and 16 years old when they hosted their very own variety show. They held that title for one year until it was broken by The Keane Brothers, Tom and John, who, at ages 12 and 13, hosted a summer variety show on CBS.
In 2015, Osmond told Closer Weekly, “We had a director who was a perfectionist. There were so many wonderful outtakes that weren’t used because he wanted it to be perfect."
However, he has come to believe that "imperfection is perfection." He added, "You can’t make it too perfect to a point where it’s not real.”
Osmond concluded, “I look back at my life as all these peaks and valleys, and Donny & Marie happens to be a peak. The bad times dissipate, and you only remember the good. When I see those old clips, sometimes I cringe, but it still brings a nice big smile to my face.”
The Donny & Marie Show aired from 1976 to 1979 and quickly became a Friday night staple. It was a cornerstone of the era’s family hour television, a hugely popular tradition in the 1970s.
