Kansas State has officially hired Collin Klein as its next head coach.
Klein was a star quarterback for the Wildcats under Bill Snyder during his playing career and now heads back to Manhattan to replace Chris Klieman as head coach. Klein spent the past 2 seasons as the offensive coordinator at Texas A&M.

— K-State Football (@KStateFB) December 5, 2025Klein was a finalist for the 2012 Heisman Trophy and is a member of K-State’s Ring of Honor. He also worked in Kansas State as an assistant coach from 2017 through 2023.
Kansas State’s press release confirms Klein will continue on as Texas A&M’s offensive coordinator through the Aggies’ run in the College Football Playoff.
“My family and I could not be more grateful for the opportunity to come home,” Klein said in a statement. “Thank you to President Linton and Gene Taylor for believing in us to lead the Cats into a new era. The position of Head Coach at Kansas State has a long legacy of service, hard work, determination, and competitive greatness that I am honored to carry forward.
