Acclaimed Singer-Songwriter Announces Tour Celebrating 25th Anniversary of Fan-Favorite Album

As impossible as it might seem, nearly 25 years have passed since the release of Pete Yorn's critically acclaimed first album, musicforthemorningafter, a remarkable debut that prompted publications like Spin to call him "one of his generation's best songwriters." Now the singer-songwriter is celebrating this milestone anniversary in a way his fans are most definitely very happy about: He's going out on tour.

In a TikTok this week, Yorn announced the "musicforthemorningafter 25th Anniversary Celebration featuring MFTMA favorites, stories, inspirations & more music spanning the PY catalog."

"Come celebrate 25 years of 'musicforthemorningafter'! Shows on sale now. Can't wait to see yas," he wrote in the caption.

Commenters on the post were thrilled to hear the news, with one writing, "Amazing record! A top 10 album of all time for me! I can listen to this every day and it never gets old!"

According to the post, the anniversary tour will kick off in Pioneertown, Calif., on Jan. 24, 2026, and will wrap up May 9, in Columbus, Ohio.

Pete Yorn and Scarlett Johansson recorded two albums together

After the success of their first album, 2009's Break Up, Yorn and Scarlett Johansson reunited in 2018 for the EP Apart. In an interview with Forbes that same year, Yorn admitted that the "whole reason we got back together, from my end, was I just missed singing with Scarlett."

"It felt like too much time had gone by and I felt super nostalgic for those 2006, 2007 days," he continued. "And I needed to do it again and I was so happy she was game. She was definitely a baby when we did the last one and I was a little bit older than a baby. But it was quite some time ago. We both have daughters now and it changes your perspective."

When asked if there were any songs from their first album together that he'd want to revisit, Yorn admitted he was dealing with personal struggles during the recording of Break Up.

"For me, more than anything I always remember where I was when I recorded it in my life," he said.

"More than anything, after time has passed, it gives you this perspective and I know when we recorded the Break Up record I was in a f—ked up place personally," he explained. "I was going through a really difficult time personally. And to look back and go revisit those songs it reminds me that everyone is on their individual path and they’re moving through time growing and going through stuff at different phases of their life. That’s what older material does for me. Then when you sing those songs again live you put all that into it and you can interpret it in different ways and bring it into who you are now as a person."

Rumor has it Yorn and Johansson might join forces on yet another album in the future...but fans will just have to wait and see.
