If you’re an AARP member and a Facebook user, you may be entitled to a payout as part of a $12.5 million stemming from class action lawsuit, but time is running out to file a claim.
The suit alleged the organization disclosed the identities and video-viewing activity of certain aarp.org members without consent. It also argued AARP then provided the information to Facebook parent company Meta.
AARP denied the allegations and that it did anything improper or unlawful, and agreed in July of 2025 to pay $12.5 million to settle the claims against it, the settlement administrator website said.

Are you eligible for the AARP settlement?
Those eligible for the settlement are Facebook account holders who are also AARP members, or registered users of aarp.org.
Only those who had Facebook accounts between Sept. 27, 2020 and Sept. 12, 2025 qualify, the settlement site said.
According to the administrator, notices with a unique ID and PIN may have been issued to those impacted. If you believe you are a class member but did not receive a notice, you can contact the settlement administrator at [email protected] or call 833-417-4887.
How much could you get?
The final amount will be determined once all claims are evaluated, and if the court approves the settlement.
“Based on claims rates in similar cases, Class Counsel estimate that eligible class members could receive between $47.00 and $237.00 each,” the site said, though the actual amount that each class member receives could be higher or lower.
A final approval hearing will be held Feb. 10.
Deadline to file a claim
According to the settlement administrator, the deadline to file a claim is Dec. 31, 2025. More information about submitting a claim can be found here.
