The wait is over for Golden Globe-winning actress Christine Lahti to make her Fire Country debut.
Lahti is playing Sharon’s (Diane Farr) estranged mother, Ruby. The last episode before the Thanksgiving break ended with Ruby showing up on Sharon’s doorstep unexpectedly.

This came after Sharon learned from Walter (Jeff Fahey) that Vince (Billy Burke) had been paying Ruby to stay away from Sharon ever since their daughter Riley (Jade Pettyjohn) died. Sharon called her mother to find out more information, but she did not expect Ruby to show up at her house.
Parade was given an exclusive first look at what happens between Sharon and Ruby as Lahit makes kicks of her Fire Country stint. It’s easy to see from the jump that this relationship is rocky at best.
Ruby puts a smile on her face, trying to make light of the awkward reunion, while Sharon is stone cold with her guard up.
Sharon grabs her mom some wine that Ruby asked for, despite it being 10 a.m., as she tells a story from her childhood, shedding more light on Ruby as a mother. Ruby is definitely hard to please and doesn’t like to be the bad guy, leaving Sharon to take charge.
Meanwhile, as Sharon is talking, Ruby stares at a family photo of Sharon, Vince, Bode (Max Thieriot), and Riley. Never one to beat around the bush, Sharon wastes no time getting to the point.
“I have to get to Smokey’s, so skip the first two lies you are about to tell me and get to the truth of why you are here,” Sharon snaps.
Ruby proceeds to explain how Vince ended up paying her to stay away. “After Riley died, Vince reached out and said that I upset you,” she began.
Fire Country fans learn that Ruby called Sharon a bad mother on the day of Riley’s funeral. Ruby immediately goes into defense mode as Sharon folds a towel to distract herself.

“The idea that my mere presence was somehow triggering for you, that you needed space, was absurd. You needed me, and yeah, I needed you. I was hurting too, ya know. I had just divorced Paul,” Ruby explains, taking no accountability and making it all about her.
Sharon loses patience, so Ruby reveals that Vince thought it best that Ruby go away for a while. Ruby let him buy her a trip because she was grief-stricken over losing Riley.
The explanation sets off Sharon, especially because Ruby just puts all the blame on Vince, and then she plays the "poor me, I have had a rough life" card. It’s clear Sharon knows this is how her mother operates, and she’s not here to play Ruby’s games anymore.
Vince paying Ruby for over 10 years has Sharon outraged. The more that Ruby blames Vince, the more Sharon loses it on her, because Vince isn't here for Sharon to take it out on.
Fire Country (2:07)Farr and Lahti kill the very short clip, which means Fire Country fans are in for some juicy entertainment now that Ruby’s in the mix. Fire Country’s latest promo also hinted at a reunion between Bode and his grandmother in the new episode titled "Best Mom in the World".
Only a few episodes remain until the fall finale on December 19, so make sure to tune in so not a second of the drama is missed.
