Amanda Seyfried Reacts to Throwback Photo with Michael B. Jordan From 22 Years Ago

Amanda Seyfried only has love for fellow actor and former co-star Michael B. Jordan.

The Mamma Mia! star swung by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday night to promote her upcoming film The Housemaid, but ended up covering a lot more than that. Seyfried also reflected on her cover of Joni Mitchell's hit song "California" from her visit nine months ago. In addition, Fallon surprised her and the audience with a 22-year-old photo of the actress and Jordan on the set of All My Children.

The two worked together briefly on the soap opera in 2003, where Seyfried played Joni Stafford for five episodes, while Jordan portrayed Reggie Porter Montgomery for three years. Their characters overlapped in the show's 34th season when the two had to complete community service work because of seperate run-ins with law enforcement.

In March 2025, Seyfried posted the same photo on her Instagram story, writing the caption "22 years ago dayum" on the bottom right corner. The photo recirculated online again months later on November 26, thanks to @bjordanfiles, a popular X account dedicated to Jordan. At the time, Seyfried was just 17 years old, and Jordan was 16.

All My Children was one of Seyfried and Jordan's first acting jobs, and she revealed that she worked on the show for 10 months before her character got written off.

"Our characters had a love story; it was so beautiful...We enjoyed the job. We were so young, we felt so lucky, then they wrote me off," she said, which caused Fallon to laugh a little. "It's so nice to run into people that you started out with. We're peers and we love our jobs and we get to celebrate each other a lot."

After leaving All My Children, Seyfried booked her role as Karen Smith in Mean Girls, which was a box office success and skyrocketed her career. In 2006, she played Sarah Henrickson in HBO's Big Love, which followed a fictional fundamentalist Mormon family. Two years later, Seyfried played Zoe in the horror drama film Solstice and co-starred with Meryl Streep in Mamma Mia!, a romcom film adaptation of the 1999 musical of the same name. Mamma Mia! was Seyfried's first leading role, and the film was the fifth highest-grossing film of that year. After the musical wrapped, the actress was cast in Jennifer's Body alongside Megan Fox, which received mixed reviews from critics.

In the 2010s and 2020s, Seyfried went on to act in many films and TV shows, including Dear John, Letters to Juliet, Les Misérables, Ted 2, Mank, The Testament of Ann Lee, The Dropout, The Crowded Room and more, earning multiple nominations and accolades. She also started stepping into producing roles, having credits in Long Bright River, A Mouthful of Air and The Housemaid.

Meanwhile, Jordan has become one of the most dynamic leading men in Hollywood. He first gained attention on television with standout performances in The Wire and Friday Night Lights, before breaking through in film with his role in Fruitvale Station. He also took on the role of Adonis Creed in the Rocky franchise revival, solidifying him as a box office force. In 2018, he portrayed antagonist Erik Killmonger in Marvel's Black Panther films, earning widespread praise for bringing complexity to the villain character. Beyond acting, the 38-year-old actor has also expanded into producing and directing, including his work in Creed III and Sinners.

Also starring Sydney Sweeney, Brandon Sklenar, Michele Morrone and Elizabeth Perkins, the psychological thriller film is based on the 2022 novel of the same name by Freida McFadden, and follows Millie Calloway (Sweeney), a young woman with a troubled past who becomes the live-in housemaid for a wealthy family.
