Tara Reid’s Drink Was Not Spiked, Police Say After Chicago Hotel Incident

Tara Reid's drink was not spiked at a hotel just outside of Chicago, according to police.

On Nov. 23, the American Pie actress appeared visibly disoriented and confused in the lobby of the DoubleTree Hotel in Rosemont, Illinois in footage obtained by TMZ.

A photo later shows paramedics arriving on the scene, putting Reid on a stretcher, and then taking her out of the hotel.

Initialy, Reid and her team alleged the actress had been drugged at the hotel's bar, however, Rosemont police found no evidence suggesting this to be true.

Police told Chicago news station WGN that they reviewed surveillance video from the hotel, and while it did show Reid at the bar, it did not show anyone tampering with or adding anything to her drink.

“We can confirm that a bartender covered her drink when she left the bar, which is standard practice for bartenders to do,” Rosemont police said.

Police and Reid are still waiting for hospital records and the results of chemical testing. However, police say they are not investigating anyone at this time.

The results of the police investigation contradict the story Reid and her team provided the media following the viral incident. The day after she was taken to the hospital, Reid claimed her drink had been spiked after she stepped outside to smoke a cigarette.

“Tara Reid is trying to file a police report after an incident in which she believes her drink was tampered with. She is cooperating fully with the investigation,” Reid’s rep said at the time. “Tara is recovering and asks for privacy during this traumatic time. She also urges everyone to be careful, watch your drinks and never leave them unattended, as this can happen to anyone. She will not be making further comments at this stage.”

Reid has been open about her struggles with alcoholism the past, and credited entering a rehabilitation program in 2008 with saving her life.

“I didn’t like the person I was. I was sad and conflicted,” she told In Touch in 2014. “I went there by myself. I put myself there. It was the greatest decision I ever made. Rehab saved my life.”

Reid first rose to fame in the 90s and early 2000s for her role as Victoria “Vicky” Lathum in American Pie and American Pie 2. Her other notable credits include Josie and the Pussycats, Van Wilder, The Big Lebowski, andCruel Intentions.
