Suburban Rosemont police have given their latest update on an incident that involved actress Tara Reid at a hotel late last month.
Reid filed a police report in late November over allegations that her drink had been tampered with at a bar inside the DoubleTree Hotel on River Road on the morning of Sunday, November 23.
Rosemont officials confirmed police and paramedics responded to an EMS call at the hotel, and according to officials, patrol officers assisted Rosemont paramedics, and transported Reid to an area hospital.
Video posted by TMZ, which was obtained by a witness, showed the “American Pie” actress on a stretcher, with the actress telling the publication she left a drink at the bar unattended while smoking a cigarette and when she returned, the drink had a napkin placed on top that she did not put there. She went on to drink her beverage and the next thing she remembers was waking up in the hospital.
Detectives interviewed Reid about the incident, and on Wednesday revealed new information revealed in a review of surveillance footage.
According to the latest update, the surveillance video did not show any individual tampering with the drink. The video also showed a bartender covering her drink with a napkin when she stepped away from the bar.
The investigation is still waiting on hospital records, but at this time, police say that they believe “no criminal act” was committed at the hotel.
“While we do not have any evidence that a drink was tampered with, it is a good reminder to never leave a drink unattended. If you ever believe you have been drugged or feel unsafe, please reach out to local authorities,” a police spokesperson said.
A spokesperson for the actress had issued a statement after the incident confirming that Reid was cooperating with the investigation, asking for “privacy” after the incident.
Reid had been in the Chicago suburb for an appearance at the Chicago Sports Spectacular event in late November.
