Green Bay Packers Injury Report: Jayden Reed, Lukas Van Ness, More

The Green Bay Packers opened their week of prep for Sunday’s matchup with the Chicago Bears looking as healthy as they’ve been in a long time — and of course, that lines up just in time for a critical battle with Chicago at Lambeau Field.

Several Packers returned to practice on Wednesday, including three players designated for return from injured reserve.

Running back MarShawn Lloyd, defensive end Brenton Cox, and defensive end Collin Oliver were all back after lengthy absences. Lloyd hasn’t played since the preseason, Oliver hasn’t taken a full-squad rep since rookie camp, and Cox has been sidelined since Week 1. Matt LaFleur cautioned that both Lloyd and Oliver will be eased back and expectations should be modest.

Four players who missed last week’s win over Detroit were also back on the field: WR Matthew Golden, LB Quay Walker, CB Nate Hobbs, and DT Karl Brooks. Of those, Walker is the name Bears fans should circle. Ben Johnson spent part of his Tuesday presser praising Walker’s instincts and athleticism, and his return would give the Packers a major boost against the league’s top rushing offense.

“Lot of respect for Quay Walker,” Bears head coach Ben Johnson told reporters on Tuesday. “He has been doing it at a high level now for a number of years.”

Not practicing: WR Savion Williams, DE Lukas Van Ness, and DT Devonte Wyatt, who’s headed to IR. Van Ness and Williams both missed the Lions game, and their absences could leave the Packers light at receiver and on the edge again this weekend.

One player the Bears definitely don’t want to see Sunday: Jayden Reed. His return-to-play window opened before the Vikings game, and he looked fast and comfortable during a cold Wednesday session. LaFleur gushed about his YAC ability and versatility.

“There’s a lot of things that he brings to our team just in regards to he’s a YAC machine. He does a really good job, whether it’s handing him the ball, flipping him a screen, getting him downfield in a pass concept, he does a really good job after the catch,” LaFleur said of Reed on Wednesday.
