Aron and Maini in action with Alpine in Abu Dhabi

Alpine will close out its 2025 Formula 1 campaign with a double dose of junior talent, as test and reserve drivers Paul Aron and Kush Maini each get valuable track time at Yas Marina.

Aron will step into the A525 for Friday’s FP1 session, while Maini takes over next Tuesday for F1’s official post-season Young Driver Test.

For Aron, Abu Dhabi represents familiar territory – and another step in what has become a breakout development year. Having impressed in FP1 outings at Monza and Mexico City, the Estonian is eager to build on that momentum as he replaces Pierre Gasly in the opening session.

“I am looking forward to being back behind the wheel of the A525 this weekend in Abu Dhabi for my third Free Practice session with the team, and fifth of the season,” Aron said.

“The performances in Monza and Mexico City were very positive for my personal development as a driver and I'm looking forward to building on that for a final time this year.”

Last season’s post-season test at Yas Marina remains a standout memory for him – his very first day in a Formula 1 car – and he’s back with purpose.

“I really enjoyed the opportunity to take part in the post-season test at this track last year – a very fond memory for me as it was my first time in a Formula One car – and I am grateful to the team for giving me this latest opportunity again in Abu Dhabi. I will do my best to help set up a successful race weekend for the team.”

Once the chequered flag falls on Sunday, it will be Maini’s turn to take the spotlight. The Indian racer, fresh from his Formula 2 campaign with Dams and already well-versed in Alpine’s TPC and simulator programmes, will sample a current-spec F1 car for the first time in an official session.

“I can't wait to take part in the post-season Abu Dhabi test and to have my first proper experience of the A525,” Maini said.

“The Yas Marina Circuit is one I know well from Formula 2 and it will be impressive to see the level of performance Formula One cars have around this track. I'm very appreciative of the team for trusting me in this role and will aim to do the best job possible with the programme the team gives me.”

It’s the latest step in the 25-year-old’s expanded role within the Alpine Academy, where his strong technical feedback has already earned him recognition. The Perfect proving Ground

For Alpine, the finale offers a rare chance to showcase the strength of its junior pool. Team sporting director Steve Nielsen praised both drivers' preparation and welcomed the opportunity to give them meaningful mileage.

“The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend presents an excellent opportunity to call on our Test and Reserve drivers and to allow them all-important seat time in a modern Formula One car,” Nielsen said.

“Both Paul and Kush have worked hard this season, especially during our simulator and TPC programmes to be prepared and ready for any Formula One opportunity. I am looking forward to seeing how they perform in their respective sessions at Yas Marina.”

A season-ending weekend, two rising stars, and one more chance to impress – Alpine’s youth movement is hitting the accelerator at exactly the right time.
